Betting/Gameplay
In Omaha, there is a total of four betting rounds whereby players compete for the pot. Selected players are required to post the blinds before they receive their pocket cards.
The player to the immediate left of thedealer will post the small blind while the player next to the small blind ( or tow positions left of the dealer ) will post the big blind.
After the blinds are posted, the cards are dealt and play progresses to the other player, who may either call the blinds, raise, or fold. At the end of the hand after the community cards are dealt, the highest-ranking hand (that has not folded) wins the pot.
Here is a typical betting sequence for Omaha :
- Each player is dealt four cards face down (pre-flop)
- First betting round ( lower limit )
- Dealer turns over three community cards face up (flop)
- Second betting round (lower Limit)
- Dealer turns over one more community card ( Turn)
- Third betting round (higher limit)
- Dealer turns over one final community card (River)
- Final betting round (higher limit)
- Showdown
At the showdown for Omaha, player must use any two pocket cards in combination with any thress community cards to form a valid poker hand.
First to Act
In all Omaha games, the first player to act during the pre-flop round is the player to the immediate left of the big blind. After the pre-flop rounds, the first player to act is the player to the immediated left of the dealer.
